All England Badminton 2024 Live, PV Sindhu vs An Se Young: India’s top shuttlers will be in action on Thursday at the prestigious All England Open badminton championships as the round of 16 begins.

Premier, double Olympic medalist PV Sindhu suffered a consecutive defeat against An Se Yong. She faced the toughest test that currently exists in women’s singles and fought well in the first match, but the challenge ultimately failed. Sindhu now trails Se Young 0-7 in their head-to-head. The Korean has been in phenomenal form for over a year and is also the reigning champion.

The spotlight will then turn to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who are entering the event after winning the French Open title last week. They beat the tricky duo of Indonesian legends Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in straight matches on Wednesday. Satwik-Chirag will face another Indonesian pair, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana, who were All England Open badminton champions in 2022.

Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will also be in action later today.

Lakshya Sen, a former finalist who is unseeded in Birmingham this year, will also be in the fray. He beat the young Danish left-hander Magnus Johannesen, 21-14, 21-14 in an easy first round clash to finish as the only Indian in the second round of the men’s singles. Lakshya faces another Dane, more compact, stubborn and faster, 4th seed Anders Antonsen, who lost his first match of the 2024 badminton World Tour season only last week. Meanwhile, Priyanshu Rajawat gave Chico Wardoyo a scare, before losing.
