'Baby is on the way': Bua-to-be Sakshi Dhoni urges Chennai Super Kings to finish the match quickly | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Mahendra Singh DhoniSakshi's wife made a sweet and timely request to the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, which was received positively by the five-time champions.
While cheering for the team from the stands at Chepauk, Sakshi shared an Instagram story in which she asked the team to finish the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad quickly as she is expecting to become an aunt soon.

“Please finish the game quickly today @chennaiipl. Baby is on the way… Contractions have started. Request to – to be Bua,” Sakshi's post read.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad narrowly missed out on his second consecutive IPL century, while pacers Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana dismantled Sunrisers Hyderabad's batting line-up as Chennai Super Kings registered a 78-run victory.

Gaikwad's 54-ball 98 and his 107-run partnership with Daryl Mitchell (52) helped CSK post a solid total of 212/3. Deshpande (4/27) and Pathirana (2/17) then delivered match-winning bowling performances, dismissing SRH for 134 in 18.5 overs.

Deshpande took the wickets of opener Travis Head (13) and Anmolpreet Singh (0) in his first over, along with Abhishek Sharma (15) and captain Pat Cummins (5). Pathirana removed the dangerous Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen, crushing SRH's batting line-up.

Thanks to this decisive victory, the five-time champions move up to third place in the points ranking.
CSK now has 10 points, with 5 wins in 10 matches.
Their next match is on Wednesday against Punjab Kings.
