Bangladesh opener reacts to Pakistan's T20 World Cup exit, asks Shahid Afridi to 'show the way' for Babar Azam and co.

Pakistan were knocked out of the T20 World Cup earlier this week, suffering a first round elimination from the tournament. The team's survival depended on Ireland beating the hosts USA; however, the game proceeded without a ball being thrown, confirming the United States' advancement to the Super Eight. Pakistan had already suffered a shock defeat against the United States in their opening match and suffered a dramatic six-run defeat against India last week.

Strict action is expected against Pakistani players from the country's cricket board once they reach home. According to a report from PTI, Pakistani cricketers face having their central contracts revised and their salaries potentially reduced by the PCB following their early exit from the tournament.

A source within the board told the news agency that some officials and former players had advised PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi to re-evaluate central contracts awarded to players during the tenure of his predecessor Zaka Ashraf . This recommendation is part of a broader effort to address the team's disappointing performance and implement necessary reforms.

Team regrouping Pakistan

The same news agency also reported that the team is currently divided into three groups, with captain Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan might be angry with each other over leadership issues. Shaheen was removed as Pakistan captain in limited-overs formats earlier this year, with Babar returning to the role.

Rizwan, on the other hand, is said to be upset at not being tapped for the leadership role.
