Brett Lee predicts IPL 2024 winner and it’s neither MI nor CSK

The much-awaited Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) will begin on Friday, March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will clash in the opening match. RCB will be hoping for a positive start to the season as they take on one of their oldest rivals in their den.

Notably, the Faf du Plessis-led side failed to qualify for last season’s playoffs, finishing in sixth place in the points table with seven wins from 14 matches with 14 points to their name. However, RCB will be eager to turn things around in the upcoming season and even have the support of former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee to go all the way and lift the trophy in 2024.

Speaking at an event, Lee said the team had the best team in several years and the recent name and jersey change might just bring them luck.

“I was going through all the teams, all 10 franchises and it’s not because he (AB de Villiers) is sitting next to me, I actually think RCB have a very good chance this year. I wouldn’t bet against them. They’ve had “The best side for several years, perhaps in different ways. Here in India, there are a lot of superstitions. They changed the name, the color of the clothes. This could be the year,” Lee was quoted as saying by News18.

RCB changed its name in Unbox Event

Notably, RCB recently changed their team name from ‘Royal Challengers Bangalore’ to ‘Royal Challengers Bengaluru’ during the ‘Unbox event’ on March 19 and also revealed their new jersey which has a shade of blue. Furthermore, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women recently won the franchise’s first-ever T20 title by winning the 2024 Women’s Premier League.
