Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has backed India to emerge victorious in the clash between two teams in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The two Asian giants will write a new chapter in their rivalry during the next edition of this flagship event. The tournament will begin on June 1, with the United States and the West Indies as hosts. On June 9, India and Pakistan will travel to the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York for a highly anticipated clash in front of 35,000 spectators. During a Q&A session on Instagram, Akmal was asked about his predictions for the star-studded clash, to which he replied, “Definitely India.”

When India and Pakistan appear on the same ground at the same time, there is always a different buzz associated with the match, with fans investing their emotions to support their team.

This time, in one of cricket's biggest rivalries, the atmosphere is sure to be different after India defied all odds to claim victory in the previous edition of the tournament against their arch rivals.

During their previous meeting in 2022, the Men in Green were well ahead in the match. India needed 28 runs from just 8 deliveries to come away with a victory.

With Virat Kohli on strike against Haris Rauf, the stalwart batter took a step back and hit a towering six right over the Pakistan speedster's head. In a game full of emotion, commentator Gerard Whateley uttered the iconic phrase “It's a picture of an emperor” to describe Kohli's masterclass.

He hit another maximum off the next ball, which laid the foundation for a successful 160-run chase for India. The match lived up to its hype and fans will be expecting another blowout match.

Before the epic clash between the two cricketing giants, India will take on Ireland in their opening match of the tournament on June 5. Pakistan will meet the United States in their opening clash on June 6.
