England have included pacers Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan in their 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, with Jos Buttler as captain.

The same team will also face Pakistan in the four-match T20I series at home.

Archer, who made his last appearance for England during last year's tour of Bangladesh, returns to strengthen the team after recovering from his ongoing right elbow problem. Prior to this selection, the 29-year-old pacer took part in Sussex's pre-season as well as club cricket in Barbados.

Jordan last played a T20I for England in September 2023 and does not have a central contract with the ECB, and has more recently plied his trade in the International T20 League and Pakistan Super League. Before that, he played for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, where he smashed a 17-ball fifty.

Tom Hartley, the left-arm spinner who impressed during the Test tour of India, is the only uncapped player in the squad and was picked at the expense of Rehan Ahmed. Hartley and Will Jacks are the only players on the team without World Cup experience.

Jacks and Phil Salt, who have been among the runners in the ongoing Indian Premier League, will hope to maintain their form ahead of the home series against Pakistan and then the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States.

Also in the squad is Harry Brook, who missed the winter in India due to the death of his grandmother, but has been in the running since returning to county cricket.

There is no place in the squad for Chris Woakes and Dawid Malan while Ben Stokes, who made a return for the ODI World Cup, had requested not to be considered for selection for this event Particular ICC at 20 overs.

The first T20I against Pakistan will be played on May 22, and all eight members of the team currently playing in the IPL are expected to return for the start of this series, thereby missing the IPL qualifiers.

England, who will fly to the Caribbean on May 31, begin their World Cup campaign against Scotland in Barbados on June 4.
