The summer of 2024 will prove exhausting for Barcelona.
They have their work cut out for them, with the club still in a delicate financial situation, but also trying to compete at the highest European level.
And while they attempt to find transfer solutions for the team ahead of the transfer window, Barcelona will be more than intent on focusing on their own managerial position, following Xavi’s decision to leave the club at end of the season.
The goal is to convince him to continue after having been unable to find a viable replacement for him who achieves mutual consensus within the board of directors.
However, it seems other teams have already set their sights on Xavi.
Ajax considering transfer for Xavi
According to a report published by SPORTAjax are without a manager for next season and are considering appointing Xavi as their new head coach.
They believe the Spaniard meets all the criteria for their coaching position, including his ability to work with young players, even those from the academy, and turn them into bigger stars.
Xavi’s tactical philosophy as a possession-oriented coach, trained by JDP pioneers like Pep Guardiola, also makes him an interesting candidate for Ajax.
Don’t forget that the Catalan legend already has the silverware to back him up after winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup last season.
Xavi wants a break
However, it should be remembered that Xavi is planning to take a year off after this season, as is Jurgen Klopp, who is leaving Liverpool.
This is why any team looking to sign him will have a hard time convincing him to join their project, including Barcelona, who seem determined to try and convince him to continue.
For now, however, Xavi will focus on facing PSG in the Champions League round of 16 and trying to lead the team to European glory against all odds.
