EXCLUSIVE – 'It's not that good': Former World Cup winner highlights 'weak link' in Indian T20 World Cup squad | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: BCCI announced its 15-man Indian squad for the next T20 World Cupwhich will take place in the West Indies and the United States from June 2 to 29 this year.
Former Indian cricketer Madan Lalhowever, expressed concerns regarding India's bowling attack for the upcoming T20 World Cup, particularly the inclusion of Arshdeep Singh And Mohammed Siraj in the main programming.

While the preliminary team's batting section boasts names such as Rohit Sharma, Virat KohliYashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav, fast attack features Arshdeep, Jasprit Bumrah, and Siraj, with Rahul Dravid and co. opting for Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan in the reserves.

The 1983 World Cup winning all-rounder feels that the pace attack, apart from Jasprit Bumrah, is not strong enough.
In an exclusive conversation with TimesofIndia.com, Lal said, “I don't like the pace attack. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, it's not that good. Siraj has done well (here and there), but his performances internationally have been uneven. I think India is weaker on the leading side.
Moreover, Lal maintains that this bowling line-up will rely heavily on Bumrah for wickets and match-winning performances. He stressed the importance of having a powerful pace attack, saying: “Not only in T20 cricket, you need a good pacer who can get you the wickets to win matches. Bumrah is a wicket-taker and a match-winner. Let's see how Siraj plays otherwise India will rely a lot on Bumrah. The problem is that India should have had another pacer.

“If you look at history, India only performed well when they had a good pace attack. Only then did they win a lot of matches. But I don't am not sure about Arshdeep, nor is Pandya that effective either, I think the team management took a chance on him Pace formation is the weak link. we have to see how Siraj and Arshdeep play,” the 73-year-old continued.
Lal's concerns over the bowling attack were evident when he told TimesofIndia.com: “As far as bowling is concerned, I don't have much confidence.”

Asked about his preferred choice for the bowling attack, Lal argued for the inclusion of the current Sunrisers Hyderabad death specialist. Thangarasu Natarajanstating: “If I had a chance (to choose one), I would have chosen Natarajan. I would have vouched for him because he is a good bowler at the death. Mayank Yadav is too young. Yes , he is playing at a good pace, but the question is whether he can continue to do so or not But Natarajan has done it in every match.
