Team India will continue their wonderful run in the T20 World Cup 2024 when they take on England in the second semi-final on Thursday, June 27 at the Providence Stadium, Guyana. The match promises to be highly anticipated with two of the best white ball teams going head-to-head.
However, before the match, real dark clouds hang over the match with heavy rain forecast during the match. According to Weather.com, there is a high chance of rain during the match, about 60% during the day. The match will start at 10:30 local time (20:00 IST) and the chance of rain increases to 58% at 12:00 in Guyana, ensuring a stoppage of play.
The forecast remains unfavorable until 3:00 p.m. local time, further diminishing the chances of a complete match. To facilitate the completion of the match, the ICC (International Cricket Council) has allocated a total of 250 minutes of extra time for the two semi-finals. This will ensure that ground staff will have sufficient time to prepare the ground for the competition, weather permitting.
Who will qualify if the match is canceled?
However, if the match is canceled, the team finishing higher in their Super 8 group will qualify for the final, as per clause 16.10.7 of the ICC Playing Conditions for the T20 World Cup 2024. Therefore , India are all set to qualify for the final if the match is canceled as they dominated Super 8 Group 1 by winning all their matches.

In contrast, England finished in second place with two wins from three matches. However, fans will be hoping for a full 40 over match between the two heavyweight white-ball teams of modern cricket.
“If a semi-final is tied, the teams will compete in a Super Over to determine which team advances to the final. Refer to clause 16.3.1.2 and Appendix F. If following a tie, weather conditions prevent the completion of the Super Over, or if the match is abandoned or without a result, then the team which finished first in their second round group will advance to the final,” specify the ICC playing conditions for the tournament.
