An intriguing tactical battle awaits the cricketing universe as Kolkata Knight Riders take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of the Indian Premier League 2024. The master tactician, Gautam Gambhir, has already guided his team to two victories against the Sunrisers this season, and he would be keen to put the final nail in the coffin in the final on Sunday. For Hyderabad, skipper Patrick Cummins's exceptional strategic mind is the key to ending KKR's incredible run in this IPL. For this high-profile clash, even the BCCI has put in place certain measures, just in case rain or some other factor appears to dampen the morale of the players and fans at the match.

What happens if IPL 2024 final is completely wiped?

This season we have already seen some washed out competitions in the IPL. The first was the GT vs KKR match at Motera, the second was the SRH vs GT match at Uppal. Even the last league match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders had to be abandoned. While there is no immediate threat of remaining in the IPL final, Cyclone Remal could change that. But if the match is stopped on Sunday, it will be played on Monday, the reserve day.

The BCCI hopes to have full action at 20 per team if the match is postponed to the reserve day. But a 5-man fight per side is also sufficient in case of rain, with the Duckworth-Lewis system coming into play.

But, if no play is possible on the reserve day as well, a scenario which has never happened before in the IPL, the points table standings would come into play. In such a case, Kolkata Knight Riders would win the IPL trophy, after finishing the league stage as the No. 1 team while Sunrisers Hyderabad finished second.
