IPL 2024: Shah Rukh Khan reveals Kolkata Knight Riders' 'Superman' | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Charming all-rounder Sunil Narine has been the KKR's essential player for more than ten years in the initial loading, hitting huge sixes, scoring a ton of runs and producing breakthroughs. Co-owner Shah Rukh Khan generously praised the all-rounder, calling him “Superman” and the real engine of the team's success.
KKR is currently second in the rankings thanks to Narine's torrid innings, which included a century, two half-tons and nearly a dozen wickets. If Narine's charismatic play holds true this season, the two-time winners have a good chance of ending their ten-year winning drought in the IPL.
“At home we call him Superman, the God Particle. He's a boss on the field, a player, a bowler, a batsman, a wicketkeeper, a fielder. He's a player 'anything '” Shah Rukh told Star Sports. 'Knight Club Presents – King Khan's Rules' about the 35-year-old stalwart, who played a pivotal role in KKR's trophy lift in 2012 and 2014.
In the 2012 and 2014 seasons, Narine, the leading wicket-taker among foreign spinners in the IPL, took 21 and 24 respectively, paving the way for the purple and gold jerseys to win their two IPL titles.
“He is so fiery, so lovable. We are very lucky to have players, Indian or foreign, who have deep feelings for the team… Sunil, like I said, he is a player who 'anything'.”

The Bollywood actor went on to say that the club's philosophy depends heavily on Narine and his compatriot. Andrew Russelland that any injury suffered by any of them was like a blow to the body in the side.
“Imagine KKR without these guys. When they get injured, it's horrible to wonder how we're going to manage without them. It's so crucial. They've been with us for so many years and I think about how whose team they supported, they are part of the family,” Shah Rukh said.
Russell's haircut sets him apart from the rest, and Shah Rukh described the cricketer as a 'fashionista'.
Even though it has been over a decade since the West Indian popularized the stylish cut, the mohawk he popularized when he entered the IPL is still in style.
“He is such a wonderful person to be around and such a great cricketer. He reminds us of the first great man like Universe Boss, Mr. Gayle. He is like that, and I like the fact that he is very caring fashion. He likes to dress well, do his hair.
“Last night I asked him: 'Do you have two-tone shoes?' He said no, but he has designer tips, so I said, “Are they Gucci designer tips?”
Russell and Rinku Singh have developed a close relationship and Shah Rukh thinks their friendship reminds him of Jai-Veeru from the classic film 'Sholay'.
“He and Rinku have such a strong bond, like the Jai-Veeru friendship. They are so different, yet they love and help each other as cricketers and as people. They are so different, yet They love each other and help each other as cricketers and as people.”
The KKR icon will always be the team's mentor Gautam Gambhir, who joined the team this season after a stint with Lucknow Super Giants. Gambhir led the franchise to two IPL victories and helped them qualify for the playoffs five times.
“The great thing about Gautam Gambhir coming back to us is that I never felt like he was leaving us. Whether he was on our team or coaching someone other, there is never any animosity or competition with him.”
The first part of Knight Club Presents – King Khan's Rules will be broadcast at 6:15 p.m. on Friday evening.
