Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended their six-game losing streak in IPL 2024 with a comfortable 35-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday. Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli's half-century took RCB to a competitive total of 206/7 before Karn Sharma, Cameron Green and Swapnil Singh took two wickets each to restrict SRH to 171/8. SRH's top order, comprising explosive batters like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen, has been extremely impressive this season but the hosts suffered a massive collapse against RCB and that ultimately led to the defeat . SRH owner Kavya Maran was stunned by the rapid fall in wickets during the SRH innings and her irritated expression went viral on social media with users coming up with hilarious memes.

“Last two games we showed great signs of fighting. SRH game was over 270, we got 260. KKR game also – 1 point. We have been close for a while, but you have to win games matches to have confidence in a group. You will sleep easier tonight You can't talk about confidence in the group, you can't pretend to have confidence in the group.

“The only thing that gives confidence is performances. The competition is so strong, the teams are so strong that you will get injured if you are not 100 percent. More and more guys are scoring points now. In the first half of the tournament, only Virat was scoring “Greeny’s points will be huge for him now. We know that Chinnaswamy, this has been a big frustration for us. It's a difficult pitch to play on, we tried to find a recipe for it, but it's difficult,” RCB captain Faf Du Plessis said during the post-match presentation.

This was SRH's third defeat in IPL 2024, but they continued to retain the third spot in the points table.

“Not an ideal evening. Few players above average with the ball and unfortunately lost a few wickets throughout our innings. We were going to bat first, it seems to be working for us.”

“Before the last few wins we thought we were a bowling team. It hasn't gone our way. (Message to group) I talk after wins, Dan (Vettori) talks after losses. The boys are doing great , it's T20 cricket, you're not going to win every game. Don't dwell on that too much.

“(High risk, high reward approach with the bat) I think that's our strong point. It's not going to work every game. One or two games where it didn't go the way we wanted at the start, we still managed to get a good one. I still think this is the way to go for our boys,” said SRH captain Pat Cummins.
