Kylian Mbappe announces his departure from PSG at the end of the 2024 season

In a twist of fate, French striker Kylian Mbappé announced that he would leave Ligue 1 champion PSG at the end of the 2023-2024 season.

The groundbreaking news comes just days after the French club's exit from the UEFA Champions League, as PSG lost to Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on aggregate in the semi-final of the prestigious competition.

“I wanted to tell you that this is my last year at Paris Saint-Germain. I will not extend it and the adventure will end in a few weeks,” Mbappé said in a video posted on social networks.

“It’s a lot of emotions. (For) many years, I had the chance and the great honor to be a member of the biggest French club, one of the best in the world, which allowed me to travel here,” added Mbappé.

“It's hard and I never thought it would be so difficult to announce that I would leave the country, France, the league and the Championship. But I think I needed this, a new challenge after seven years.”

Mbappe ends his career with the French side as the club's top scorer, having scored 325 goals in 305 appearances.

The World Cup winner also won 12 major trophies with the Parisians, including 6 Ligue 1 titles.

Speculation is rife over the Frenchman's destination, with most reports reflecting his interest in joining Los Blancos, Real Madrid, which will become a reality this summer.

To add to the whole saga, according to earlier reports from Spanish media outlet Marca, Mbappé has already agreed a contract with Los Blancos, which would keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2029.

Other rumors arose such as that of the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, who also announced to his players that Kylian Mbappé would join them next season.
