Match rewards from Germany's massive victory over Scotland at EURO 2024

Germany have taken the right steps so far at EURO 2024 and started their campaign with a dominant 5-1 win over 10-man Scotland. Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Niclas Füllkrug and Emre Can all scored, but others also stood out. Although every German player deserves to be included in the rewards, only one can be chosen.

Jersey swap: Angus Gunn

The Scottish goalkeeper was incredibly busy that evening as the barrage of German attacks arrived. Germany would have scored more without Gunn; anyone else in the Scotland team is either terrible or average.

The Emperor: Antonio Rüdiger

Despite his own goal, the rather eccentric centre-back was also busy stifling any attacks that came his way and added a bit of hilarity to his defensive antics. Nonetheless, he and Jonathan Tah stood firm at the heart of the defense while Joshua Kimmich and Maximilian Mittelstädt bombarded up and down the flanks.

The God of Football: Toni Kroos

This is a bit tricky because there are five players to choose from in this category. But just because he could dictate the course of the match and give the German fans a taste of the good old days, the legendary real Madrid the star gets the nod here.

The bomber: Jamal Musiala

Bayern Munich'Bambi' just had fun throughout the match, bamboozling the Scots with his dribbling and compounding their misery with his goal to make it 2-0 in 19 minutes. He also served Niclas Füllkrug for the fourth goal.

Master of the match: Julian Nagelsmann

Many players deserved to receive these rewards. It is therefore only fair that the man who put the team together should be recognized for a job well done. It may not be a real test and Scotland may not be the best team, but it's a good start and gives fans a taste of what's in store for Germany. When you look at it, the guys were playing comfortably everywhere and just playing Scotland.

Can someone go wake Manuel Neuer up from his nap and tell him it's time to go home? Clément Turpin also looks like Marco Neppe and from now on, we can no longer ignore him.
