He watched the Indian cricket team in action against arch-rival Pakistan at the Nassau County Stadium in New York on Sunday, along with MCA Secretary Ajinkya Naik and office-bearer Suraj Samat.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Amol Kale died of a cardiac arrest in New York, USA on Monday.

He watched the Indian cricket team in action against arch-rival Pakistan at the Nassau County Stadium in New York on Sunday, along with MCA Secretary Ajinkya Naik and office-bearer Suraj Samat.

During his tenure, Wankhede successfully hosted the 2023 World Cup matches, including the semi-final where India faced New Zealand. His popcorn initiative was a big success at the multinational event.

The domestic cricket circuit has also seen huge success under his leadership, as Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy in the recently concluded 2023-24 season.

Amol Kale was also part of the central committee of the Street Premier League and he was planning to revive the Mumbai T20 League.

He was also in charge when the MCA took the groundbreaking decision to ensure that Mumbai players will receive match allowances identical to what the BCCI gives to its players.

Sankay Naik is currently the vice-president and is expected to take charge of the Mumbai Cricket Association on an interim basis.
