CSK’s next match will be an away encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday (April 5) and Mustafizur is expected to return on Sunday or Monday, depending on when he collects his passport. A return on Monday (April 8) would cut him short and might even force him to miss the home match against Kolkata Knight Riders which will be played on the same day.

“Mustafizur arrived from the IPL last night for US visa purposes for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He will give his fingerprints at the US embassy tomorrow (April 4) and will later return to India to join Chennai,” said the president of the BCB cricket operation. Mustafizur has played a pivotal role for CSK so far in the tournament, having claimed seven wickets in three matches to be at the top of the bowling rankings. He recorded victory figures of 4-29 in the opening match of IPL 2024 between CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He followed it up with 2-30 in the match against Gujarat Titans, again in a winning cause. However, he was costly in the match against Delhi Capitals, his former IPL franchise, as he conceded 47 runs in his four overs for one wicket.

Mustafizur will only be available to play in the IPL until the end of April, with the left-arm seamer expected to join the national team ahead of their five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe which begins on May 3. “His NOC for the tournament runs until April 30 and we expect him to return from the IPL then,” Yunus added.
