Palmer praises Pochettino as Chelsea climb back into top six

The work isn't quite done yet, but all it takes is a point from our final game, at home to Bournemouth on Sunday, to guarantee (some sort of) European football at Stamford Bridge next season. It will not be Champions League variety, but it will not be of the non-existent variety either.

And even if we manage to screw it up, Chelsea's good end to the season will have given rise to real promise for next season and beyond. Ultimately, the plan seems to be working and we have established a solid foundation for what is to come.

The credit goes to everyone involved, from the decision makers at the top who put the team together, to the manager who sets the tone, to the players themselves who actually execute.

Throughout it all, the players have blended into a true team, with vibes generally remaining positive even at some of our lowest ebbs. And the credit certainly goes to the coaching staff. Pochetino made this one of his main stated goals this summer, and he has certainly delivered on his promises on that front.

“Being in our hands to get sixth place is a big thing for us, Chelsea are a big club and everyone wants to finish higher than sixth but you have to look at where we were at the start of the season.

“Coming back to Europe would be a step in the right direction. All credit goes to the manager. All the players love the manager and want to fight for him.

So that's a pretty strong endorsement.
