Ponting, who recently signed as coach of Major League Cricket’s Washington Freedom, wants to be at the forefront of the emerging sport in the United States.
“I think there is a great opportunity to continue to develop and promote the game in this part of the world. And that’s a big part of why I took the coaching job at Washington Freedom, to be part of this kind of movement to grow the game in the United States,” Ponting added.
“There are obviously so many Indian, West Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Afghan expats in this part of the world that we know they will continue to promote football. But what we need to do is get Americans to love and understand the game of cricket.
