Rahul Dravid’s son Samit hits KL Rahul’s signature shot against Lancashire, video excites internet | Cricket

Indian head coach Rahul Dravid’s son Samit Dravid has been in the limelight ever since he started playing age-group cricket. For obvious reasons. To Samit’s credit, the stories around him over the last couple of years were more due to his performance than his association with an Indian cricket legend. This time too, the story was quite similar.

Summit played the shot in a two-day warm-up match between the Karnataka State Cricket Association XI and English county Lancashire in Bengaluru. Lancashire and Sussex are two English teams who are currently in Bengaluru to hold their pre-season camp ahead of this year’s County Championships.

It was a short delivery from Lancashire left-arm spinner Josh Boyden. Samit quickly assessed the length, shifted his weight to the backfoot and rolled his wrists over the ball to hit it past point.

Lancashire won the toss and sent out KSCA XI. Samit came in to bat at No. 5 after KSCA lost their first three wickets for 62. He started cautiously but kept the scoreboard ticking. Just when he seemed to have got his eyes on it, Samit was deceived by a brutal delivery from Jack Morley.

The ball from the left-arm spinner pitched in the middle, went slightly away from the right-hander, but what caused Samit to fall was the bounce. He hit his gloves and went to first slip where Luke Wells took a good shot. Samit was dismissed for 25 off 45 balls with two boundaries.

Samit has been in good form lately. He won a decent Cooch Behar Trophy, scoring 362 runs in 8 matches at an average of 36. Unlike his father, Samit is more than skilled with the ball. In fact, he would be considered a true all-around player. His numbers in the Cooch Behar U19 Trophy are the biggest proof of this. Samit, who bowls at medium pace, has picked up 16 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 19.
