RCB vs LSG: Memes steal the show as Faf du Plessis’ men suffer second consecutive defeat in IPL 2024.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stumbled once again in IPL 2024, facing their second consecutive defeat as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered a 28-run victory against the struggling hosts. With this defeat marking RCB’s third setback in four matches, they find themselves entrenched at ninth place in the IPL points table.

Despite having the advantage of winning the toss at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, a venue known for favoring chasing teams, RCB’s decision to bowl first did not yield the desired results. Quinton de Kock’s 82 and Nicholas Pooran’s explosive 42 propelled LSG to a formidable total of 181 for 5 in 20 overs. In response, RCB faltered, being bundled out for 153 in 19.4 overs.

As RCB clung to their less-than-ideal position on the points table, fans were left saddled with another disappointing performance. Naturally, social media platforms were ablaze with jokes and memes, as RCB’s recurring struggles invited a flurry of humor and commentary.

Meanwhile, although RCB bowlers prevented LSG from crossing the 200-run mark, their batting line-up faltered. Virat Kohli, du Plessis and Rajat Patidar showed promise at the top order but failed to convert their starts into substantial innings. If Mahipal Lomror’s valiant 33 offered a glimmer of hope, it proved insufficient as the other batsmen failed to rise to the occasion.

On the contrary, Mayank Yadav once again became the shining star of LSG, surpassing his own record for the fastest delivery in the league with a blistering speed of 156.7 kmph. Yadav’s impressive bowling figures of 3 for 14 in four overs played a pivotal role in LSG’s rise from sixth to fourth position in the points table. Now, with their sights set on the upcoming clash against KL Rahul-led Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 7, LSG aims to maintain their new momentum.
