Report: Thomas Tuchel wants assurances on securing new attacking midfielder and defensive midfielder ahead of Bayern Munich deal

According to a report from Miguel Delaney of the Independent, Bayern Munich Coach Thomas Tuchel may have already made his numerical advantage.

According to Delaney, Tuchel wants 'assurances' on getting a new defensive midfielder And a new attacking midfielder for the 2024/25 campaign:

Thomas Tuchel wants Bayern Munich to give assurances on two specific signings before committing to a new contract. The 50-year-old has been involved in a series of meetings all week regarding a new deal, as the German club's long wait to decide on next season's manager looks set to end with the current manager continuing .

One of them was a position he wanted to fill from the start of this season, number six. A move from Fulham's Joao Palhinha collapsed in the final minutes of the summer window, and Tuchel believes it was actually a key moment in Bayern's season.

While he insists the club will move there, another role that he says has gradually grown in importance is that of playmaker. Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes is one of the stars he wants, as the Independent reported on Tuesday.

The importance may even increase as Jamal Musiala considers the direction of his own career, amid interest from Manchester City. Tuchel is now closer to a contract with Bayern, but both of these signings are considered deal-breakers.

Although a true No.6 may not currently be in Bayern Munich's squad (the Bavarians have made do with Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Konrad Laimer and Aleksandar Pavlović playing hybrid No.6/No. 8 this season), he would add a body to an increasingly crowded midfield group. One could assume that one or more members of this group would leave the club if a new defensive midfielder was acquired.

As for the position of No. 10, it is a little more special since Musiala was named current – and future – attacking midfielder for Bayern Munich. In addition to Musiala, Bayern Munich has veteran Thomas Müller in its ranks, as well as youngsters like Lovro Zvonarek and Paul Wanner.

Do Bayern Munich already know anything about Musiala's future plans?
