Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was fined heavily after his team was found guilty of violating the code of conduct during their IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at the Cricket Stadium Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA, in Visakhapatnam. The defending champions suffered their first defeat this season under new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad after back-to-back home wins, while Pant led Delhi to their first win of 2024 after back-to-back away defeats.
Panting was fined after his team maintained a slow pace in their match against CSK. As it was his team’s first attack of the season under initial loadingCode of conduct regarding minimum rate infractions, Pant fined ₹12 millions.
This was the second case where a team captain was fined after the IPL team maintained a slow over rate during the match. Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill suffered a similar fate, as he was also charged with a fine of INR 12 lakh for the same offense during the IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai last Tuesday.
Pant, however, put in a remarkable performance with the batscoring his maiden fifty in IPL after missing the 2023 edition of the tournament due to his recovery from a fatal car accident in December 2022.
