In a tragic turn of events that cast a shadow over Mumbai cricket, Amol Kale, president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, died of cardiac arrest on Monday in New York, where he had gone to watch the India match against Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Kale was 47 years old.

A day earlier, he had attended India's thrilling victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup at the stadium, accompanied by MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik and apex council member Suraj Samat.

At Amol Kale's funeral today, June 12, notable participants included Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Salman Khan, Devendra Fadnavis, Ajinkya Rahane and several others, paying tributes to the late Mumbai Cricket Association president.

Kale was elected MCA president in October 2022, defeating India's 1983 World Cup hero Sandeep Patil in a closely contested election.
