Dhawan obtained divorce from his wife on grounds of cruelty

Shikhar and Aesha got married in 2012 and were blessed with a baby boy, Zoravar, in 2014. In his plea, Dhawan said Aesha had initially vowed to live with him in India. However, due to her commitment to her daughters from her previous marriage, requiring her to stay in Australia, she was unable to come and live in India. Justice Harish Kumar said Aesha did not choose to contest the claim. The judge also ruled that Dhawan's wife subjected him to mental agony by forcing the Indian cricketer to live apart from his only son for years.
