Suryakumar Yadav is expected to feature for Mumbai Indians very soon in IPL 2024. Cricbuzz has learned that he has been cleared by the National Cricket Academy and will be with the team on Friday (April 4).

The No.1-ranked T20I batter last played competitive cricket in December 2023, when he scored a hundred in the third T20I against South Africa. However, in this series he suffered a grade 2 tear in his ankle for which he required surgery.

Suryakumar then underwent surgery for a sports hernia, which further delayed his return to cricket as he continued his rehabilitation at the NCA facilities in Bengaluru.

The 33-year-old will join the team in their training session at the Wankhede Stadium as they prepare for their next home match against Delhi Capitals, an afternoon match scheduled for April 7. Team management will take a call based on participation. on how he behaves during sessions on the net in terms of physical condition.

It hasn’t been the best of starts for Mumbai Indians this season, having lost three matches on the trot under new skipper Hardik Pandya. After suffering defeats against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad in home encounters, MI also lost their first home match against Rajasthan Royals earlier this week.
