T20 World Cup 2024: First batch of Indian team players lands in New York


The first batch of Indian team players, including captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid, among others, have landed in New York. The official social media account of the BCCI shared a video of the same.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and the coaching team took the flight to the West on Saturday. Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and traveling reserves Shubman Gill and Khaleel Ahmed arrived today.

All teams comprising players from India's 15-man World Cup squad have been eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 ahead of the final. The showpiece event begins next month with India beginning their campaign against Ireland. India are placed in Group A, alongside Ireland, the United States, Canada and their main rivals Pakistan.

Earlier, a video was circulated on social media in which the stars of the Indian cricket team could be seen arriving at the Mumbai airport.

As reported by CricketNext, Virat Kohli is yet to board the flight to New York for the T20 World Cup 2024. The Indian star batter is likely to join the team before the only warm-up match, against Bangladesh on June 1. It is understood that it will fly away towards the end of the month.

“He will arrive in New York ahead of the warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1. Whether or not he plays in the warm-up will be the management's decision – if they feel there is enough gap between his landing and the warm-up match,” says a source close to the developments.

The second batch of players left this morning and Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal will join the team soon. Sanju and Avesh shared the update on their respective Instagram stories.

Hardik Pandya would be reached directly from London. India's premier all-rounder Mumbai Indians was on vacation after his IPL team crashed out in the league stages. He was to travel directly from London to New York.
