‘Temporary hearing loss’: LSG batter’s wife shares ‘warning’ received when MS Dhoni went to bat at Ekana


The Ekana Cricket Stadium happens to be the home of the Lucknow Super Giants, but fans have painted it yellow to welcome the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, match n No. 1. 34. But to the fans’ surprise, Chennai got off to a poor start after being asked to bat first.

The top order collapsed and the middle order also faltered as the defending champions struggled at 87/4. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja anchored the innings with his maiden fifty this season and finally, legendary MS Dhoni’s cameo of 9-ball 28 upped the pressure.

The former CSK captain smashed 3 boundaries and a six in his short stay in the middle as the team’s score skyrocketed to 176 for 6 in 20 overs. Her stroke play looked magical as the fans cheered in unison, making Ekana look like Chepauk.

The noise in the stadium was deafening and Quinton de Kock’s wife Sasha, who was present, received a notification on her smartwatch about it. She shared a photo on her Instagram story which revealed that the sound levels reached 95 decibels as Dhoni walked towards the bat.

“Noisy environment. Sound levels reach 95 decibels. Just ten minutes at this level can cause temporary hearing loss,” reads the message on Sasha de Kock’s smartwatch.

However, Dhoni’s knock was not enough to secure a third straight victory for the defending champions, as KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock both scored half-centuries to put LSG on course for their fourth victory this season.

De Kock and Rahul shared a brilliant opening stand of 134 runs which more or less destroyed CSK’s chance of winning the match. Skipper Rahul scored with a 53-ball 82 to lay the foundation for the chase with De Kock, who scored 54 off 43 as his wife watched him do well in person. While Rahul and De Kock were both dismissed, LSG went on to win by eight wickets and one to lose.
