Thailand Open 2024 Final Highlights: Satwik-Chirag wins second title of 2024, set to return to world No. 1 | Badminton news

Thailand Open 2024, Men's Doubles Final, Badminton Highlights: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty beat Chinese pair Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi 21-15, 21-15 in the final of the Thailand Open. It's a tournament that holds a special place in the careers of Satwik and Chirag as they won the title in 2019 for their first victory at the Superseries/Super 500 level. And on Sunday, they clinched their title at the Open Thailand.

With this victory, Satwik-Chirag should also regain the world number one spot.

In the summit clash, the Indians continued their dominance that was evident all week, as they finished the tournament without losing a single match.

The world number three Indian pair, who are also top seeds in this tournament, won their second World Tour title in 2024, after claiming victory at the French Open in March.

Unlike their exciting journey in 2019, it was smooth sailing this week. The pairs they beat before the final, without losing a match of course, were ranked 71, 69, 64 and 80 in the world. The most points they conceded in a match was 16. They would maintain that statistic, beating world number 29 Chen-Liu, although the score doesn't tell the whole story, in a match where they been tested.
