Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally returned to winning ways in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, ending their 6-match losing streak, by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday. The 35-run win against SRH keeps RCB alive in the playoff race, although their task remains uphill. Although the journey may be long, RCB stars, especially Virat Kohli, found enough reasons to rejoice as they ended Hyderabad's high-flying winning streak. Kohli, in fact, became a child as RCB pacer Yash Dayal took the final over of the match.

Kohli played an important role in his team's victory, scoring 51 runs as the Bengaluru franchise put 206/7 on the board while batting first. The bowling unit then worked in tandem to shake up the SRH top order, inflicting a 35-run defeat.

After the match, Faf said in the post-match presentation: “In the last two matches, we showed great signs of fighting. The SRH match (in Bangalore) was over 270, and we got 260. The KKR match as well – (lost by) 1 point We have been close for a while, but you have to win matches to have confidence as a group. You can't talk about confidence in the group,. you can’t pretend to have confidence in the group what gives confidence is performance.”

“The competition is so strong, the teams are so strong that you will get hurt if you are not 100 percent. More and more guys are scoring points now. In the first half of the tournament, only Virat (Kohli) was scoring runs. Scoring runs will now be huge for him. We know Chinnaswamy has been a big frustration for us. It's a tough pitch to play on, we've been trying to find a recipe for that. but it’s difficult,” he added.

RCB are at the bottom of the points table with two wins, seven losses and four points. SRH are in third place with five wins, three losses and 10 points.
