Warner shines as Australia flex their muscles with dominant warm-up triumph


Warner smashed six fours and a trio of massive sixes at the Port of Spain venue, facing just 21 deliveries, a great sign for the Australians after the southpaw struggled for consistency and suffered an injury during the recent IPL.

Deckhand Josh Hazlewood has been impressed with what he has seen from Warner and expects the veteran to contribute strongly at next month's event.

“When it comes to these tournaments, he always stands tall, as we know he does, so I still expect nothing but big things from the Bull (Warner),” Hazlewood said. Cricket Australia post-match.

“He looked good on what looked like a pretty tough wicket and he timed the ball pretty well early on.

“So we’re still expecting big things from Davey.”

Hazlewood (2/5) set the tone with a superb opening spell which yielded three maidens, while first-choice player Adam Zampa (3/25) once again bowled well as Namibia failed to only got over 100 thanks to some decent late strikes from Zane Green. (38).
