Fans took to the streets of Bengaluru to celebrate RCB's memorable victory against CSK which earned them their ticket to the IPL 2024 qualifiers.

Bengaluru erupted in joy as fans rushed the streets after Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored a thrilling victory to eliminate title holders Chennai Super Kings and sneak into the IPL 2024 playoffs on Saturday evening.

Right from the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, fans lined the streets to celebrate RCB's victory over CSK by 27 runs to seal a top-four berth. The result resulted in a stunning turnaround for the franchise which was looking down at one point in the season with little hope of making it past the championship stage.

As the RCB team bus left the venue around 1:30 am IST, the exit road was filled with fans cheering the players as they headed towards the hotel.

Not far from the venue, fans were seen bursting crackers on the street accompanied by chants of “RCB, RCB”.

RCB had to beat CSK by a significant margin to ensure qualification. Rain was forecast for the contest and it made an appearance briefly after the start of the match with RCB batting first.

However, the interruption lasted for a few minutes as RCB resumed their innings. Captain Faf du Plessis led the way with a quick fifty and Virat Kohli produced another impactful innings – 47 off 29.

Their middle order also stepped up with useful contributions from Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik, propelling them to 218/5 from 20 overs.

And then Maxwell got rid of CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad in the very first delivery before Yash Dayal replaced Daryl Mitchell to rattle the defending champions early in the run-up.

Rachin Ravindra had an eventful half-century to revive the chase and later, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni threatened to end RCB's hopes.

With the target now a distant memory, CSK were now hoping to reach 201, which would have allowed their net run rate to remain higher than RCB's despite the defeat. However, they were kept at 191/7.
