Buttler’s superb throw to remove Klaasen (X.com)
Jos Buttler is known to be an inspirational leader, whether representing a club or a country. The England white-ball skipper produced a moment of magic yet again on Friday as his team took on South Africa at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in a crucial match of the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.
This happened in the 14th over of the South African innings when Mark Wood bowled a wide delivery to Heinrich Klaasen. Trying to win the ball with the big gloves, Buttler made a mess of it, leaving David Miller and Klaasen thinking about taking a single.
And the South African duo agreed to do so and Buttler saw the opportunity present itself. He immediately attempted a throw after recovering the ball in an off-balance manner. Guess what, he broke the stumps and Klaasen was well away from the crease.
Miller, after observing him, threw his bat to the ground, while Klaasen continued to run towards the clubhouse.
