Smriti Mandhana’s RCB made a strong comeback in the WPL 2024 final against Delhi Capitals. They were hammered in the Powerplay and DC were 64-0 after 7 overs. However, a three-wicket haul from Sophie Molineux sparked a collapse and DC soon collapsed in dramatic fashion.

The 6th wicket was that of Jess Jonassen who was bagged by Asha Sobhana and was the second wicket of the over, as the DC batters seemed strangely pressed against a disciplined RCB bowling attack.

However, there was a slight error of judgment on Asha Sobhana’s part when she charged to remove the catch from her own bowling, which was clearly Smriti Mandhana’s catch. The skipper finally realized this, but did not hesitate to express his displeasure to the bowler.

It was a nice delivery though, a flying delivery and a googlely down the off stump line. Jess Jonassen danced on the floor and gave it a big effort. However, the ball caught the top edge of his blade and went high in the air towards the covers.

Smriti Mandhana was settling silently underneath, but Sobhana ran all the way towards the covers, but somehow backed away, which was followed by a tough lesson from Smriti Mandhana.
