Indian batting Suryakumar Yadav never fails to entertain, and his vintage T20 prowess was on full display against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 match at Kensington Oval on June 20.

Currently ranked No.1 in T20I batting, Suryakumar unleashed carnage against the Afghan bowlers, particularly targeting Rashid Khan. In a standout moment, Suryakumar executed a perfect sweep shot off Rashid, sending the ball flying over deep square leg for a six. This audacious shot left Rashid on the back foot in the 11th over.

The Afghan skipper approached Suryakumar soon after and they shared a light-hearted exchange. Commentators humorously noted Khan’s plea: “Stop sweeping me,” to which Suryakumar quipped, “It’s not my fault,” emphasizing the friendly but competitive spirit of the game.

Suryakumar’s blistering innings ended with 53 runs off just 28 balls, thanks to a well-executed delivery from Fazalhaq Farooqi. His quick knock, however, gave India crucial momentum.

At the time of writing, India stand at 167 for 7 off 19 overs, with Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel at the crease.
