Smriti Mandhana, Royal Challengers Bangalore's own daughter who helped them win the WPL title just a few months ago, was back in action at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday when India took on South Africa in of the first ODI of the multi-format series.

The 27-year-old did not disappoint as she continued to hold the fort in an innings after the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side came to bat first.

Mandhana reached a well-deserved half-century during South Africa's 23rd innings when Nondumiso Shangase came to bowl. She headed towards the fine leg region to get there, and she made three runs before raising her bat. The entire locker room, and therefore the stadium supporters, gave him a standing ovation.

At this moment, Mandhana batting alongside Deepti Sharma, who reached 26* off 36 balls with the help of two fours. India's total is 157/5 after 33 overs.

Interestingly, although the chasing team emerged victorious in the previous three ODIs here, Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bat first after winning the toss. The Indian captain could only muster 10 out of 11 balls, while the rest also failed to live up to the high standards.
