Soon after Harbhajan Singh criticized Kamran Akmal, the former Pakistan wicketkeeper apologized for his remarks on the Sikh community.

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has apologized to Harbhajan Singh and the Sikh community for his disrespectful comments towards Arshdeep Singh. Akmal said he was “truly sorry” for his comments on a Pakistani news channel, which angered the former Indian cricketer.

Akmal was part of a panel discussion on ARY News during the India-Pakistan encounter in the T20 World Cup on Sunday in New York. The former wicketkeeper-batsman weighed in on the Indian pacer's religion, saying: “Anything can happen…see Arshdeep Singh must do the latter. Well, he hasn't found his rhythm. it's 12 o'clock (Anything can happen. The last over will be bowled by Arshdeep Singh; he didn't seem in a good rhythm. And it's already 12 o'clock.

Akmal's comments triggered a massive uproar on social media, also drawing a furious response from Harbhajan.

Akmal's apology

Soon after Harbhajan criticized Akmal, the former Pakistan wicketkeeper apologized for his comments, also admitting that his comments were “inappropriate and disrespectful”.

“I deeply regret my recent comments and sincerely apologize to @harbhajan_singh and the Sikh community. My comments were inappropriate and disrespectful. I have the utmost respect for Sikhs around the world and it was never my intention to hurt anyone. I am really sorry. #Respect #Apology,” Kamran Akmal wrote on X.
