Captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) Hardik Pandya faced heavy criticism after his tactics were exposed by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) batters during their IPL 2024 match on Wednesday. Jasprit Bumrah was MI’s most economical bowler, conceding 36 runs from his quota with one wicket in the bag.
However, he only knocked down one on the power play. He was only brought back into the attack in the 13th over, but by then SRH were already at 173/3.

“Where is Jasprit Bumrah?? The game is almost over and your best bowler has only bowled ONE!”, Moody posted on X.
Speaking after the match, Moody said Hardik made a mistake by starving Bumrah in the powerplay.
“One of the priorities in powerplay cricket is wickets and he is your best wicket-taker and he will always be your best wicket-taker and for him to be hungry for that opportunity and Mumbai to be hungry for this opportunity to try to stem the “It doesn’t seem fair,” Moody said on ESPNcricinfo.
Moody further praised Bumrah, calling him the best bowler in the format.
“When you have the best bowler in this format in the world, if not in all formats in the world, he is certainly in this format in the world, he is your go-to person. For him to bat one, you know, in the first 10 overs. I completely understand if they want to use some swing bowling options in the first or second over, I understand that. But for me, Jasprit Bumrah has to bowl two overs in the powerplay, only because of this that he brings to the table,” he added.
