NEW DELHI: An emotional but proud country Sunrisers Hyderabad co-owner and CEO Kavya Maran on Sunday hailed the team's glorious journey in IPL 2024, highlighting that its players have redefined T20 cricket en route to the summit clash.

Horsemen Knights of Calcutta crushed the Sunrisers by eight wickets in the final in Chennai to win their third IPL title.

Although SSR succumbed to the lowest total ever recorded in a IPL Final — 113 — their aggressive style of play throughout the season, where they broke numerous batting records, won praise from fans and pundits.

And despite losing in the final, Kavya was seen applauding her team in a dressing room speech after the match.

Mitchell Starc bowled a sensational opening spell to propel KKR to their third title with an eight-wicket drubbing of the Sunrisers.

Kolkata bowled out Hyderabad for a modest 113 in the final as Australian left-arm quick Starc returned figures of 2 for 14 to live up to their top spot in the world's most lucrative T20 tournament.

Starc went to Kolkata for a record $2.98 million in the December auction and finished the IPL with two stellar performances, including a 3 for 34 win in the first play-off to hammer the same opponent.

The Kolkata batsmen had it easy and despite the early departure of Sunil Narine, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who made 39, and Venkatesh Iyer, on 52 not out, helped the team cruise home in 9.3 overs to lose after a partnership of 91.
